Senator Miriam Says PH Won’t Be ‘Laughingstock’ If Marcos Wins Elections
Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago said that if Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. wins the May elections as the Vice president, she believes that he won’t be a ‘laughingstock’ to the world.
According to an interview on ABS-CBN by Karen Davila, Senator Miriam said that this won’t happen since the world is “preoccupied with many other events.”
“The world is preoccupied with many other events. It has no time to make a laughingstock of a person in a tiny developing country that nobody ever heard of,” said Senator Miriam as quoted in the report.
When asked about why choosing Marcos despite the “sins” of his father, late President Marcos, the Santiago said that it is ridiculous.
She even asked what kind of philosophy is that.
Sen. Bongbong Marcos, according to the interview was a student of Sen. Miriam in the University of the Philippines College of Law. The senator said that the she has personal knowledge of Bongbong’s intellectual competence even he dropped out.
Santiago added that Marcos’ education in Oxford is an advantage because “at least exposed to the intellectual environment there.”
Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo already said before that if Marcos would win the elections this would be an international dishonor for the Philippines.
Senator Santiago was also asked about the different between Marcos and Robredo if any of them would win the elections.
She responded.
“Bongbong would be more focused on gathering power and exercising it. Leni will be more focused on the humanitarian and welfare activities of the government.”
