OFW Claims That Her Vote For Duterte Came Out For Roxas In Voting Receipt

An Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Hongkong claims that her vote for Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte was counted for Liberal Party’s Mar Roxas on her ballot instead.

Cecile Caluya, an OFW in Hongkong was recently interviewed and her video was uploaded on the YouTube channel HKPinoyTV who claims and defends that after voting for Duterte, the VCM receipt printed for Roxas.

In the emotional interview of Cecille Caluya, she said that on the day of the absentee voting in the polling precinct in Bayanihan, she insisted that she voted for Duterte as her president. In order to be sure, she even double-checked her entries or shadings before feeding it to the voting machine.

But after she received a receipt from the machine, it showed that there is Mar Roxas’ name in there.

Caluya said that she stood up that she voted for Duterte and not Mar Roxas. Then, the officials in the area told her to fill up an affidavit.

Still, not convinced of the proceedings, she said in the video that she asked for help from volunteers who told her to as for the ballot number.

At first, her request was denied but, upon standing for her right, the officials then gave the number to Cecile Caluya. She was also assured that her vote for Duterte in her ballot will be counted.

“Ang gusto ko po kasi talaga ipaglaban ko ‘yung boto ko, ipaglaban ko yung karapatan naming mga OFW, ipaglaban ko ang sigaw ng bayan,” Caluya said in the interview.

[What I really wanted is to fight for my vote, for the rights of our fellow OFWs, fight for the cry of the people.]

Caluya then expressed her disappointments because of this incident that she even questioned the purpose of having an election if the government will just cheat it.

She then added she this was not the first time this kind of alleged anomaly happened for overseas absentee voting (OAV).
