Vice Presidential candidate Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, the running mate of the leading presidential candidate Mayor Rodrigo Duterte revealed during an interview that he is glad to be part of the what so called “Duterte phenomenon” which sweeps social media by storm. According to Sen. Cayetano, being part of the phenomenon is already an achievement for him as a public servant.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, the senator revealed that he will leave the decision on whether he should be the next Vice President of the Philippines despite the fact that he continue to lag behind the survey which was recently dominated by Rep. Leni Robredo.
According to the senator and vice presidential candidate, he will leave everything to God and the Filipino people. He was quoted as saying “Filipino people have the right to decide. Surveys are not always correct. If they are correct at iyun ang will sa akin ni Lord, okay din. I’m just happy to be part of phenomenon and part of this change,” he said.
The senator who was considered as the most avid Duterte supporters even before the election campaign started said that he and Mayor Duterte will work hard in the remaining days of the campaign and not be compacent on the Mayor’s recent lead in the presidential preference survey conducted by Pulse Asia.
Sen. Cayetano also believes that Duterte will be able to overcome any negative reaction to his controversial remark about an Australian victim and the numerous negative attacks on him by various news media organization in the country as he noted that the Filipino people were behind them on their journey to Malacanang.
