Local newspaper in the Visayas region, Sunstar conducted an online survey which shows that Mayor Duterte is now the leading presidential candidates for the 2016 national elections. The online survey was conducted by Sun.Star Publishing Inc. through Survey Monkey, an online development cloud-based company.
According to the official website of Sun.Star, the survey ran only for five days instead of the initial plan to open it until April 30, to prevent some possible vote-rigging.
The online survey is part of a series of online surveys Sun.Star will run to gauge which candidates readers of the website will support in the upcoming national and local elections.
Mayor Duterte is currently leading in the presidential race based on the latest results released by the company, the Davao City mayor was the preferred successor of Pres. Aquino, with 38,557 votes or 61.9 percent of the total 62,289 respondents. He is followed by Vice President Binay who managed to stay next to Mayor Duterte, he got 19.4 percent (12,106); former Interior secretary Mar Roxas with 10.4 percent (6,500); Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, with 4.5 percent (2,790); and Senator Grace Poe with 3.8 percent (2,336).
According to Sun.Star, in the vice presidential race, the running mate of Mayor Duterte, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano was also the No. 1 candidate of choice by Cebuanos with 44 percent or 26,2013 votes out of the total 59,571 respondents.
Rep. Leni Robredo was second with 20.8 percent of votes (12,378), followed by Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. with 16.5 percent (9,816); Gringo Honasan, with 14.6 percent (8.699); Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, with 2.7 percent (1,613); and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, with 1.4 percent or 862 votes.
