Veteran police officer and lawmaker, Sen. Panfilo “Ping Lacson” who served as head of the Philippine National Police for two years stated that Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s promise to solve the country’s problems of corruption, crimes and other illegal activities in three to six months should he be elected president of the Philippines is not doable.
The 70-year-old Mayor Duterte made the promise that he will provide solutions to the country’s problems during the first televised debate organized by the GMA Network, Inquirer and the Commission on Elections. The Pilipinas Debates 2016 was held in Cagayan de Oro City and the primary focus of the debates is the possible solutions to the problems in Mindanao.
According to Sen. Lacson “Without taking anything away from Mayor Duterte, knowing he had proven his ability in Davao City, I think that promise would be difficult to fulfill… it’s not doable,” Lacson said in an interview.
The independent senatorial candidate Ping Lacson said that solving crime entails strategic and tactical planning and the police must employ strategies to suppress and prevent crimes and this would need massive police visibility. The huge task of police visibility is also difficult to achieve because there are only 150,000 policemen protecting 100 million citizens spread across the Philippines.
Suspected criminals, he said, should be given due process under the country’s laws. Lacson stated “Once you assume the presidency, you cannot just pull an Armalite rifle and shoot all drug lords, gun down all criminals. That is not how the democratic system works. We have to respect due process,” Lacson said.

PRESIDENT DUTERTE IS BETTER KESA SA MGA IBANG PULITIKO. Bakit? Kasi hindi sya nagsasabi na “IS NOT DOABLE”… President Duterte, at least TRY TO MINIMIZE IF NOT PREVENTED. Di gaya ng mga nagdaan na mga pulitiko, wala tlga silang ginawa kungdi magdagdag pa imbes na magbawas ng mga drug lords or iba ibang pang krimen.
