Paula Alvarez, the spokesperson of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan, appealed to the Filipino public to look beyond the character of the tough-talking Davao City Mayor and understand his way with women. In a statement released by the spokesperson, she noted that despite Mayor Duterte’s “character blemishes,” he had been successful in stamping out crime in Davao City.
The statement of Paula Alvares was her first as spokesperson of Mayor Duterte and the entire PDP-Laban party that supported the candidacy of Mayor Duterte on his dream to help the Filipino people as the new president of the Philippines.
The spokesperson was quoted as saying “What we want is for people to look beyond these swearing and profanity that they are throwing at him. What we should look into is his track record,” Alvarez said.
The PDP-Laban spokesperson also asked the public not to take literally Duterte’s statements of killing criminals, saying he publicly p(–foul word(s) removed–) himself off as a murderer only as a hyperbole. “Some of his statements are just hyperbole. Sometimes he exaggerates to drive home a point,” she said.
Alvarez noted that “What we want is efficient government. Let’s look into that—quick action and solution (mabilis na aksyon at solusyon),” she said, referring to the slogan of Duterte and his running mate, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano.
