Mayor Duterte Has Donaire on His Corner After Pacquiao Snub

The controversial Davao City local chief executive, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has a boxing champion on his corner in the person of the newly-crowned Junior Featherweight champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. The announcement of Mayor Duterte was revealed after a few days when Manny Pacquiao decided to stick with Vice President Jejomar Binay.

During an interview with ABS-CBN News, Mayor Duterte was quoted as saying “At least may boxer ako na isa na sa akin, ang isa kasi ayaw sa akin. Ito, champion man din,” Duterte said, referring to 33-year-old switch-hitter Nonito Donaire.

Manny Pacquiao earlier vowed to stick it out with United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) party standard-bearer VP Binay, saying that he believes in the pro-par programs of the country’s second-highest public official.
