Some APEC Protesters Don’t Know the Meaning of the Summit (APEC Fail)

During the successful Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation hosted by the Philippines members of the militant groups Bayan and other street parliamentarians aired their protests against APEC. One of their battlecry was “Junk APEC,” but it was revealed later in the media that some of the protesters doesn’t really know what APEC means.

APEC protesters who were members of various militant groups have been shouting for the past few days airing their concerns and holding mass actions against the country’s hosting of the APEC Summit.

In a news article posted by Inquirer, it was revealed that some of the protesters don’t even know what they were fighting for which raised speculations among netizens that were just paid to protest the Aquino administration’s successful hosting of APEC.

One of the protester was asked about APEC and this is his reply “Ang Apec, ‘yan ‘yung pagmi-meeting ng mga presidente ng mga makakapangyarihang bansa para pagkaisahan ang mga mas mahihirap na bansa kaya lalong naghihirap ang mga mamamayan,” said a militant who introduced himself as “Ben.”

Another member of the militant group who joined the rally answered that APEC stands for Asia-Pacific Economic Corporation. Most of the militants who joined the anti-APEC protest clearly had no idea what they were fighting for.
