The Movie and Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) through Chairman Atty. Eugenio Villareal said they will have a dialogue with ABS-CBN bosses next week to discuss the issue involving the popular “Pastillas Girl.” The statement made by MTRCB came after women’s rights group Gabriela aired concern on receiving complaints against “It’s Showtime.”
According to Atty. Villareal, he already sent an invitation to the show’s producers urging them to meet with the board’s Gender and Development committee.
The MTRCB Chairman explained it is the agency’s impetus to empower viewers to be more discerning of what they watch on TV.
Atty. Villareal was quoted as saying “Pag-uusapan at bibigyan natin ng pagkakataon na magprisinta ng explanation ’yung nasabing palabas. So titingnan muna natin ’yung gender sensitivity issues and then after that titingnan natin kung ano magiging (hakbang natin),” he said.
Atty. Villareal encourages the public to be vigilant in monitoring TV programs and movies shown on television, in cinemas and even on public transport systems, like buses and ferries. All movies shown inside the vehicles should have been properly reviewed and evaluated by the MTRCB.
