The Popular “AlDub” Will Not Participate in Election Campaign as Endorsers

The popular Alden Richards and Yaya Dub or more popularly known as AlDub, will not use their celebrity status to win votes for reelectionist Senator Tito Sotto or any other politician in next year’s national elections. The statement was released by Sen. Sotto on Monday and revealed that the AlDub tandem were already invited by some politicians to be their endorsers.

According to Sen. Sotto he wanted to be seen as a serious candidate and don’t want the AlDub tandem to campaign for him. The senator noted that he is setting the example so that politicians will know he mean it. The senator was quoted as saying “I am setting the example so that politicians will know we mean it. And we do not want our Dabarkads (gang) to be politicized,” said Sotto.

Before going into politics, Sen. Tito Sotto was part of the popular comedy trio of Tito, Vic and Joey, the main hosts of the longtime GMA 7 noontime show “Eat Bulaga!” now known as “EB.”

The Tito Vic and Joey tandem was also known as the “masters of toilet humor,” has expanded the EB gang into the Dabarkads, which now includes Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza or Yaya Dub.

In a revelation to the media, Sen. Sotto told the Inquirer that the AlDub pair had received many “big offers” from politicians, including two presidential candidates whose camps had approached Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza separately to ask them to join their campaigns.

Senator Tito Sotto said Richards and Mendoza had turned down the offers, and EB had barred them from joining political campaigns or even from talking politics.
