Following the last State of the Nation Adress of the president yesterday, Sen. Chiz Esucdero on Tuesday resigned as chairman of the powerful Senate Committee on Finance and as co-chairman of the Joint Congressional Oversight Committee on Public Expenditures.
The senator said he is seriously considering running for a higher office in 2016.
“Seryoso kong pinag-iisipan pero wala pa akong pasya,” he said.
Escudero has earlier sent a letter of his resignation to Senate President Franklin Drilon.

With no yet confirmation and final decision of running, the senator however said he had a meeting with Sen. Grace Poe and have already talked about a possible Poe-Chiz tandem in the 2016 elections.
Escudero explained in his resignation letter that the upcoming budget deliberations should be free from politics.
“It is, Mr. President, what propriety requires; it is, I believe, what our people expect from us all: delicadeza,” he said.
In his resignation, the senator said he will remain a member of the majority bloc.
