Poe Hits Back to Binay’s Camp, Says Attacks Pushing Her to Run in 2016

After being slammed by United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) leader questioning her honesty and qualifications for the presidency, Senator Grace Poe has fired back saying the attacks are pushing her run in 2016.

Soon after the lady senator inked a Senate subcommittee report recommending plunger charges against VP Jejomar Binay, UNA interim president Toby Tiangco noted that Poe could not run in higher office due to residency issue.

Binay’s camp said Poe would not meet the residency requirement for presidential candidates in the Philippine Constitution.

“Ang pinaka-nakakainsulto sa akin ay ginamit nila na hindi daw ako tapat dahil hindi naman ako kwalipikado, na bakit hindi ko daw sinabi iyon,” Poe said.

Poe added that she is qualified to run but she has not made up her mind yet whether to run or not.

“Mas lalo pa nilang tinutulak na mapalapit sa 100%,” she said referring to her decision.

Tiangco earlier showed Poe’s certificate of candidacy when she ran as senator stating she was a resident of the country for 6 years and 6 months at the time of 2013 elections and that adding three more years would mean Poe is only a resident for 9 years and 6 months by the time of May 2016 elections.

However, the senator said she can prove that she would have been in the country 10 years come Election Day on May 9, 2016.

“Ang tatay ko kasi namatay 2004 eh, so bandang huli na ng December (2014), so January pa lang, alam ko, or mga February 2005, nandito na ako. Mapapatunayan iyan,” she said.

“As of today, lagpas lagpas na [sa 10 years].”

In the end, Poe left a meaningful lines tracking back her late father’s presidential run.

‘”Mabuti na rin, mabuti nang pareho ang kanilang ibinabato sa aking tatay – lack of experience, hindi Filipino, at kulang sa track reord,” she said.

“Kanino nanggagaling iyan, diba sa kanila rin, na mga dating sumporta kay FPJ?”
