Following the verbal brawl started by the mother of Filipina Mary Jane Veloso in Indonesia’s death row, President Benigno Aquino III said he would not argue back.

During an interview with Bombo Radyo on Thursday, the president said he has a lot of important things to do than engaging in the verbal tussle.

“May obligasyon tayo na pangalagaan ang kapakanan ng mga Pilipino (We have an obligation to take care of the welfare of Filipinos),” he said “At iyon ang ginawa ng gobyerno (And that is what the government did).”

Mary Jane Veloso’s case has been in the hand of the administration since Aquino started his term.

“Kung palagay ng nanay n’ya kulang ang ginawa namin hindi ko na aaksayahin ang oras ko na makipagsagutan (If her mother thinks what we did was insufficient, I won’t waste my time arguing with her),” he said.

Aquino also added that what is important is that the government is working hard to save the younger Veloso.

The Philippine government and other concerned organizations appealed to the Indonesia last month to spare the life of Mary Jane who is supposed to be executed for drug trafficking charges.
