Doctors, Guards Face Charges for Obstruction in Probe of Jolo Revilla Shooting

Following the supposed accidental shooting of Cavite Vice Gov. Jojo Revilla at his residence in Ayala Alabang Village in March, three doctors and four security guards are facing raps for allegedly preventing the police from looking into the incident.

PNP spokesman Sr. Supt. Bartolome Tabias said the security guards are counted for obstruction of justice and disobedience of a police officer.

The persons are also facing administrative charges for violation of the private Security Agency Law.

The guards were identified as Julius Baniago, Dondon Roslinda, and Frobel Aloro, all from Asian Hospital and Medical Center; and Jose Torrendon, a resident security officer.

The guards should have follow their mandate of having to immediately report the shooting incident to the police. Those at the hospital allegedly denied to the police that Revilla was admitted there while the village guard reportedly prevented investigators from entering the area.

Doctors who treated Revilla after the incident are facing charges before the Professional regulation Commission (PRC), for violationg of Executive Order 212, which rewuiqred of them to report treatment of patients for physical injuries to authorities.

Doctors form the Asian Hospital were identified as Dr. Edgar Mendiola, Dr. Rosita Biernas, and Dr. Eden Lasal.

PNP meanwhile would wait for the position of the DOJ for the possible violation in handling the gun, reportedly issued to him the Cavite government.
