Storm Surges Already Felt in Albay Due to Bagyong Ruby (Photos & Video)

The forecasts storm surges made it presence felt in the Province of Albay according to a news report posted by ABS-CBN on their official website with one of its staff reporting from the area which is under Public Storm Warning Signal No. 2. According to PAGASA’s latest typhoon update, Bagyong Ruby maintained its strength, with maximum sustained winds of 195 kph and gusts of 230 kph moving westward at 10 kph.

In the latest report of ABS-CBN, strong winds and waves brought about by Bagyong Ruby have been battering the Province of Albay since Friday evening. Reporter Dennis Datu stated that waves have crashed through the boulevard in Legazpi city, with waters reaching the houses near the shore in the affected areas.

The Department of Science and Technology through the Project NOAH, projected that a storm surges of 3-4 meters are expected in low-lying areas within the vicinity of the forecast areas affected by Bagyong Ruby.

As of Saturday morning waves was responsible for the scattered garbage at along the boulevard. The Province of Albay through their Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) has already ordered preemptive evacuation in the province due to threats of typhoon.

Bagyong Ruby is expected to make a landfall in Borongan, Eastern Samar early Sunday morning, it is expected to stay longer in the country because its movement slowed down.
