The country’s weather agency, PAGASA, announced on their latest weather bulletin issued at 5:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, that the Low Pressure Area (LPA) intensified into a a Tropical Depression. According to PAGASA, the weather disturbance has remained stationary during the past few hours.
The Tropical Depression which will be known as “Henry” as it enters Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) was last spotted 990 kilometers east of Northern Mindanao as of 4:00 PM. It is expected to enter PAR within the next 24 hours.
According to PAGASA weather forecaster Connie Rose Dadivas in an interview with dzMM, the tropical depression Henry was packing a maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph). It is expected to intensify since it is still over water.
PAGASA noted however, that the Tropical Depression Henry is not yet directly affecting any part of the country based upon the latest weather bulletin posted by the weather agency.
Once Bagyong Henry enters the Philippine Area or Responsibility it is expected to bring rains over the Visayas regions and in some parts of Northeastern Mindanao, as noted by PAGASA.
According to some weather experts, although the Tropical Depression Henry was last spotted in Northern part of Mindanao, but the track of Henry is expected to hit Northern Luzon. Bagyong Henry will cause heavy rains in the Philippines due to Habagat.
