Lupita Nyong ‘O is named by People magazine as the Most Beautiful Woman of the year 2014, placing her on top of its annual poll. The 12 Years Slave actress continued her remarkable year for the past few months.
The 31-year-old Lupita Nyong ‘O made some remarkable achievement this year as she was already signed as the new face of Lancome and starred in a Miu Miu campaign within the past three months.
The Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong ‘O catapulted from obscurity to global fame late last year because of her remarkable performance in the movie “12 Years Slave” portraying the role of Patsey in a Steve McQueen’s film.
Lupita Nyong ‘O gladly accepts People magazine award and was quoted as saying during an interview, “It was exciting and just a major, major compliment … I was happy for all the girls who would see me on [the cover] and feel a little more seen.” she said.
Based upon the records of People magazine, the Most Beautiful Woman Award has only been given to women of colour three times since it was launched way back in the year 1990. Hale Berry was awarded during the year 2003, Jennifer Lopez in 2011 and Beyonce in 2012.
The 2014 winner of People magazine’s Most Beautiful Women includes Jennifer Lawrence, Mindy Kaling, Pink and Kerry Washington, the list was first published on April 25, 2014.
