The Pacer’s prevailed over five other teams which the ESPN reported that are also interested to the former Lakers’ big man, one of this is said to be the Miami Heat.
The acquisition of the 7’0 center will make the Pacers’ big man rotation, composed of 7’2 Roy Hibbert, Ian Mahinmi, Louis Scola and David West even more intimidating.
“We are obviously happy to have him join our team,” Pacers president Larry Bird said in a news release. (Statement from Yahoo sports)
“He gives us added size, he is a skilled big man and he has championship experience. With the minutes he gets, he should be a valuable addition.” Bird added.
Bynum started this season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, whom he signed with two-year deal. He played 24 games for the Cavs and averaged 8.4 points and 5.3 rebounds before being traded on January 07 to Chicago for Loul Deng. The Bulls eventually waived the 26-year old slot man.
Bynum’s breakout season is his last year with the Lakers where he averaged 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds before being dealt to Philadelphia via a four-team trade for LA to get Dwight Howard.
