According to InterAksyon.com, the news was confirmed by no less than but the GlobalPort team owner Mikee Romero thru a telephone interview.

“We just signed Pido to a two-year deal,” Romero said to the online portal.

The young visionary PBA team owner added that their newly-hired bench-tactician will have his free hand in choosing the players and coaching staff that will comprise their rebuilding team this coming commissioner’s cup.

“This is part of our rebuilding process and he will be given free hand to select players, the import as well as the members of the coaching staff.” He added (Statement from InterAksyon.com)

Romero’s decision to undergo revamp for his ball club again, came after the Batang Pier fell short in moving in the semifinals of the Philippine Cup.

Jarencio worked as an (–foul word(s) removed–)istant coach of San Miguel and Petron in the past.

On Tuesday, the fiery mentor had bid his farewell to University of Sto. Tomas, the school he steered to a championship in his rookie season in 2006 and to a back-to-back trip to finals in 2012 and 2013.

“One of the greatest blessings in my basketball career is the chance to give back to the university.”Jarencio said.

“I shall not say goodbye, for I remain a true-blooded Tomasino at heart. Please accept my heartfelt gratitude together with my family, for your unfailing support for me and the Growling Tigers.” He added. (Statement from InterAksyon.com)

With the appointment of Jarencio, GlobalPort has already made four coaching changes, including appointment of interim coaches in only its second season in the league.
