La Salle Beats FEU, Remains Unstoppable in Women’s Volleyball

League-leading La Salle overcome a scare from Far Eastern University in the middle sets to hammer out a with a 25-11, 23-25, 25-20, 25-10 victory and remain undefeated after 10 matches in the UAAP volleyball tournament yesterday at the FilOil Flying V arena in San Juan.

Lethal-duo Mika Reyes and Ara Galang showed the way for the La Salle with 11 points apiece while Kim Fajardo added 10 markers.

Mary Palma and Geneveve Casugod delivered 12 and 10 markers respectively for the Lady Tams, who gave a good fight against the defending champs.

After being manhandled in the first, FEU managed to tie the game at one set apiece after tripping the Taft-based squad, which committed errors at the end of the second frame.

“Dito ko kasi mate-test ’yung team, kung gaano katibay ang mga bata. At least nalaman ko may kapit pala ’yung mga bata.” He added.

The Lady Spikers then regained their composure in the third set and rolled the rest of the way.

The Lady spikers, who dropped a set for the first time, now extended their winning streak to 26 games dating back from their last year campaign.

“Ang sa akin naman hindi ko iniisip kung ilang panalo na basta ang importante manalo,” De Jesus said.

With the loss, FEU dropped to 5-5 card, tied at the fourth spot with Adamson.
