DLSU Defeated Adamson 70-67 (UAAP Results July 24)

The DLSU Green Archers defeated the Adamson Falcons in a controversial 70-67 win in the latest UAAP Season 76 action at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum. With the La Salle’s win, they are now tied with Adamson, NU and UE with 3-3 records ranked at the third spot behind second-placer UST while the FEU continued to be untouched at the top.

The Green Archers led by as much as 17 points in the fourth quarter but their double-digit lead went down when Adamson made a comeback with their unlikely hero Gian Abrigo who scored all of his 10 points in the fourth quarter.

With just 1:20 remaining in the game, Adamson tied the game at 65-apiece after the Falcons mounted a whopping 21-4 run which also includes 15 unanswered point. La Salle’s Jeron Teng made two free throws to put the Archers ahead back in the lead in the final minute.

After Adamson failed to score on their offensive, they got a deflection that forced La Salle to inbound the ball from the sideline with just four seconds remaining on their shot clock. Abrigo was whistled for a controversial unsportsmanlike foul while he jostled with Norbert Torres on the inbound play.

Torres knocked down the free throws to take a 69-65 lead with 15.9 seconds left. The Falcons were forced to foul to stop the clock, Torres hit one-of-two to make it 70-65 in the dying seconds. Abrigo was fouled while shooting a three-pointer and hit two of his three attempts but the Falcons run out of time.

La Salle’s Norbert Torres and Jason Perkins scored with 13 points apiece while Jeron Teng scored with 12 points, Almond Vosotros and Arnold Van Opstal added with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Don Trollano led Adamson with 14 points while Jericho Cruz had 13 and Abrigo scored with 10 crucial points.
