R’BONNEY GABRIEL – Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Gabriel playfully joked about her not-so-smooth experience while traveling aboard the Philippines’ renowned “King of the Road” recently, yet managed to uphold her composure throughout the experience.
Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Gabriel, whose father was raised in the bustling streets of Malate, Manila, has been residing in the country since April 13, fully embracing the Filipino lifestyle alongside her Miss Universe responsibilities.
The fashion designer, born in Texas, recently visited Divisoria to source fabrics and threads, where she familiarized herself with the local practice of bargaining with merchants, known as “tawad.”
Before her adventure with the jeepney, R’Bonney Gabriel enjoyed a two-day excursion in Bohol, where she discovered the beaches and marveled at the Chocolate Hills. While there, she also appeared on GMA shows such as “TiktoClock” and “Eat Bulaga,” receiving thoughtful gifts of her favorite foods like ensaimadas and salted eggs.
Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Gabriel gained personal insight into the potentially nerve-wracking and bumpy nature of a jeepney ride. Despite the challenges, she earned praise from online users for gracefully navigating the experience, displaying the grace and elegance befitting her title.

In a short Instagram clip posted on May 8, the Filipino-American beauty queen humorously recounted her less-than-seamless encounter while aboard the Philippines’ renowned “King of the Road,” yet managed to uphold her poise throughout.
Gabriel, dressed casually, gripped the handrail attached to the ceiling of the traditional vehicle. It came with a caption, “When you’re terrified there’s no seatbelt in the jeepney and you don’t know what’s your stop so you just accept your fate.”
Gabriel also humorously remarked in the caption,”I hit my head too,” accompanied by hashtags like “jeepney,” “jeepney ride,” and “diary of a Fil-Am.” Fans admired her down-to-earth nature, with some offering amusing suggestions on how the beauty queen could request the driver to stop the vehicle.
