Smart Gilas Pilipinas amateur stand-out Kevin Alas was adjudged as the Most Valuable Player of the recently concluded 19th Kung Sheung Invitational Basketball Tournament more popularly known as King’s Cup in Hong Kong.

During the championship against the depending champion Southern California Fukienese (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation, Kevin Alas poured out 12 points but his over-all performance for the Smart Gilas Pilipinas in the entire tournament was credited for his MVP plum.
The Philippines was able to defeat Southern California with the final score of 81-77 for their fifth straight wins in the tournament.
The 22-year-old Letran Knights shooting guard got the support of veteran Marcus Douthit who topscored for Gilas in the Finals while Gary David contributed with 14 points ang Garvo Lanete scored with 12 points.
