Smart Gilas Pilipinas will face a familiar foe at the beginning of the FIBA Asia Cup Quarterfinal Rounds as they will face the Chinese Taipei National Basketball team at around 1:00 PM (PST) on Thursday September 20, 2012.
The Philippine team have rested well for the past few days after they easily defeated their last two opponents Uzbekistan and Macau while the Chinese Taipei got a strong challenge against Qatar who nearly defeated them but luckily they have executed well their last plays and won the game with a 2-points advantage.
Smart Gilas got a 3-1 records at the end of the preliminary round landing at the second spot behind league-leader Lebanon but ahead of China. Chinese Taipei on the other hand won against India and Qatar but was defeated by Japan and Group A leader Iran.
