The Philippines Men’s Basketball Team will face today Uzbekistan at around 1:00 PM (PST) for their third game after a successful and convincing win against the depending 2012 Stankovic Cup champion team, Lebanon with a 10-points advantage.
Uzbekistan defeated Macau on their first game of the tournament on Saturday with an impressive victory at 81-61 and hopes to gain a play-off berth in Group A which is composed of China, Philippines, Lebanon and Macau.
One of the most renowned cage star playing for Uzbekistan was Aleksandr Kozlov, the 30-year-old forward, a prominent member of their national team. He topscored for his team with 24 points and 14 rebounds to demolished the lowly Macau team.
The team Uzbekistan is not as threatening compared to the Chinese and the Lebanese whom  the Philippines have met earlier but they have the size and the capabilities to surprise the Smart Gilas National Team.
Coach Chot Reyes have already developed a plan to counter the aggressiveness and size of the Uzbek to secure a second win in the competition and manage to stay on top although they were already defeated by China.
