The Philippine Azkals will battling against two of the strongest team in Southeast Asia in the upcoming regional football competition, the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012. The Philippines was drawn in Group A, alongside Asian powerhouse squads Vietnam and Thailand.
Both Thailand and Vietnam ranked higher compared to the Philippine Azkals in the recent FIFA Worldwide rankings. Vietnam was the highest ranked team from Southeast Asia at 120 followed by Thailand at 135 compared to the Philippines that is currently ranked at 152, third in Southeast Asia.
The Philippines was grouped with the so-called “Group of Death” in one of the most prestigious football event in Southeast Asia, the AFF Suzuki Cup. Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand and winner of the qualifying competition is in Group A of the competition
Meanwhile the depending champion of the AFF Suzuki Cup, Malaysia was group with the 2010 Suzuki Cup runner-up Indonesia and Singapore together with the winner of the qualifying competition was in Group B after the drew was held to determine the grouping.

- Nov 30 (Fri) Qualifier Winner vs. PHL
The AFF Suzuki Cup will kick off on November 24, 2012. The tournament is co-hosted by Malaysia and Thailand.
