UP Website Hacked Leaving Chinese Message (Photo)

The premiere educational center of the county and one of the most popular university in Asia was being attacked by hackers. The website of the University of the Philippines was being hacked, leaving a Chinese message claiming the Scarborough Shoal as part of the Chinese territory.

The University of the Philippines official website was being defaced and a Chinese territorial map was being included in the page of UP’s website. The map indicate’s Chinese superpower claimed of the island which clearly belongs to the Philippine territory.

The news was first posted on the website of the GMA Network when a certain professor Lawrence Velasco was navigating the site and he saw the defaced website of the Philippines most prestigious university in the country.

According to the latest information gathered from the University of the Philippines, the attacks happened at around 3:00 AM (PST) and until now (3:24PM PST) the IT department of the University is still working to restore its service.

UP (–foul word(s) removed–)istant Vice President for Public Affairs Danilo Arao was quoted as saying that “We strongly denounce the attempt to deprive the UP community of vital information.” Arao stated.
