Manny V. Pangilinan is one of the Philippine’s most recognized businessmen launched the Philippine version of a Silicon Valley. The managing director of the Hongkong-based industrial conglomerate launched a multi-million dollar program for Filipino technopreneur.
The funding will help Filipino entrepreneur to develop groundbreaking technologies and transformed those technologies and innovations from different fields into successful commercial products.
The PLDT’s top honcho and main owner of media giant ABC 5 Television Network named IdeaSpace which will act as an incubator and accelerator to support technology entrepreneur in the Philippines.
The Ideaspace program will be run by IdeaSpace Foundation Inc., non-profit foundation established exclusively to implement the program. It will cooperate with the MVP Group of Companies and global IT companies.
The seed fund will be given to prospected Filipinos or group of Filipinos for the augmentation of newly-developed technologies. Together with the seed fund there will be a parallel activities for mentorship, resources and support for the chosen Filipino technopreneur.
Ideal prospects of the Ideaspace were start-ups that can scale in the industries of water and power utilities, toll roads and transportation, healthcare, mining, telecommunications, media and food. There will be a national competition for the first batch of start-ups.
IdeaSpace is supported by the following companies; First Pacific, Metro Pacific Investments Corp., (MPIC), MPIC hospital group, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.
