Actor Dingdong Dantes was awarded as Best Actor in the recently held 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival.

This is the first time that the kapuso artist was recognized as best actor in his portrayal in the movie “Segunda Mano” starring Kris Aquino and Angelica Panganiban.

However, together with the recognition that he received was the allegation and speculation coming from other contenders that he does not deserve to win the title.

Particularly it was ER Ejercito who expressed his disappointment over the result of the best actor award. Ejercito who stars in the movie entry “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story” claims that Dantes won the award because of his leading lady (Kris Aquino).

In an interview with the queen of talk show Ms. Kris Aquino in the Sunday program “The Buzz”, Aquino said that Dingdong deserves to win the award because he really worked hard for their movie.

Dingdong on the other hand shows humility after recognizing the opinion of others after winning the title but stressed out that it was the MMFF institution and judges who chose him to win the award and for that he is very much thankful and honored with the recognition.

The Kapuso Actor said that he was not expecting that he will win and he was really surprised hearing the news that he got the title for this year. Dantes identified that this is his first ever best actor award and added that it really feels great to have such title.

Director of their movie Bb. Joyce Bernal also congratulates Dingdong for the award and added that Dantes gave his best for the movie and as the director she is very thankful for it.

Unfortunately Dingdong was not present during the awarding ceremony because he was having a vacation in Boracay together with his family and girlfriend Marian Rivera.
