The former Miss El Paso, Lorena Tavera, was arrested by police after the store workers noticed that she bring the $69 shirt outside the mall store.
Lorena Tavera, 21-year-old, was crowned as Miss El Paso Teen USA 2006 and also won the title of Miss El Paso USA in 2008.
The NewsChannel 9 interviewed her and she said that she is going to contact her lawyer because the story is being twisted. Tavera also has two outstanding traffic court warrants according to the El Paso County Jail records.
Tavera was freed from the jail after paying the $728 bond.
