Former President Joseph Estrada is rumored to be running for Mayor in Manila these coming 2013 elections.

In an interview with Yahoo! Southeast Asia, he said that reports pertaining to Manila Mayor elections were not true. He also added that barangay officials were the ones spreading the rumors and that Ferdie Ramos his long time aide is not his spokesperson and has no authority to talk about his plans.

“He’s not my spokesman,” said Estrada. When asked about his future political plans, Estrada answered: “I have no plans yet.”

If the former president decided to continue running, he will fight against Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim who is the former head of Erap’s political party Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) on 2008. Estrada is now the president of his political party.

Lim also served as Interior and Local Government Chief during Erap’s term as president.

Estrada is an actor turned politician. He has a long career in the politics starting as a San Juan Mayor in 1968, has become a senator, vice president in 1992 and the president of the country in 1998 but was ousted in 2001 through people power revolution.

He also ran as President in 2010 elections and came in second to the current president, Benigno Aquino III.
