Following the series of hacking attack from that of Sony Playstation Network, the popular creator and maker of games like Final Fantasy Square Enix wasn’t able to free themselves from the treat.

Square Enix with its two websites was entered by Hackers forcing them to offline their sites after they had  found out the intrusion. Aside from Final Fantasy, Square Enix is also the brain behind Deus Ex and Tom Raider.

As reported, the total number of the possible e-mail addresses from the members is almost 25,000. This number include those members who registers for product updates and also those job seekers who had submitted their applications for the office in Canada and their total is 350 person. The said information including e-mail address and resumes may have been copied by the intruders form their servers.

Identity theft is one of the impacts of the intrusion towards the people who has their information stored in the server. The following are the websites who was affected by the hacking, first is Eidosmontreal.com which is run by Eidos –  Square Enix  subordinate. Promotion website Deusex.com was also affected, this website is responsible for the promotion of Deus Ex: Human Revolution which is their soon to be launch game.

After the immediate offline of the said websites, security level was also tightened for all its remaining subordinate sites before they are to be back on business to secure not just the network but as well as their users.

It was feared that the intrusion of the web server may end up with  problems concerning to the privacy of the people owning those e-mail addresses as well as the resumes.

Resumes are favorite target of hackers for it contains all necessary information for the purpose of identity theft. Moreover, scammers considered resumes as abundant source of relevant information for possible targets but the best thing with Square Enix is that it’s none in their business to hold credit card records of their users on their respective web servers.

Upon writing the report, despite the company’s admission and confirmation that their network was being hacked by intruders, still no signs of evidence that the stolen information is being used nor distributed.

Just like any other network intrusion, names like Xero, Xix and Venuism and a message “Owned by Chippy1337” appeared on their websites.
