Saif al-Arab Moamer Kadhafi, the less known sixth son of Muammar Gadhafi was killed in an air strike blamed to the NATO forces. The 29 year old son of Gadhafi was declared a martyr by it’s people and supporters of the Kadhafi’s family.

NATO air strikes had been targeting command-and-control centers that allegedly used by the government forces to suppress the civilians and rebel uprisings in Libya. This is the first time that closed families of Libyan leader Kadhafi was targeted. The youngest son of Kadhafi was declared dead together with his three grandchildren.

The attacked happened after Muammar Kadhafi had declared a cease-fire and called on attacking forces to a negotiation. The leader himself was on the compound during the attacked but were safe according to Libyan spokesman Moussa Ibrahim.

The spokesman was quoted as saying, “The leader himself is in good health,” Ibrahim said. “He was not harmed. The wife is also in good health” says Moussa Ibrahim.

Saif al-Arab al Kadhafi translated in English as “the swords of the Arabs” was appointed as the military commander in the Libyan before his untimely demise. Her mother Safia was the second wife of Colonel Muammar al-Kadhafi.
