Google dominance of search engines have always been the top agenda of the world’s most popular site, but just recently they have managed to diversified into group messaging scene. With the launch of the latest group messaging app for iPhone the Disco. Disco is somewhat one of the names to watch out in the near future.
One of the interesting facts about Disco was the developer of the said iPhone app. It was developed by Slide, a web 2.0 company that was became famous as the world’s largest third party developer in Facebook. Founded by Max Levchin of Paypal and was acquired by Google on August 4, 2010.
The Disco.com domain have utilized the group messaging application and it went up just today, while the beta app have already hit the iTunes stores yesterday. Disco.com domain name was also brought by Google from Domainfeast last year for $255,000.
Some of the competitors of Disco in group messaging were Beluga, GroupMe and Fast Society. With the machinery of Google those sites were doing their best to compete with the internet giants by doing research and development in their area of expertise mobile group messaging.
Some of the popular applications that were developed by Slide and became popular in Facebook were, Fun Wall, Fortune Cookie, Top Friends, My Questions and Super Poke.
Initially the group messaging application will only be available among United States residents. Google were planning to further developed the app and for expansions among selected countries in the near future.
