The number of kids of today, sitting in front of television or computer, is increasing dangerously, which is why playing outdoor games turns out to be even more vital for one’s health. It is not only beneficial for one’s health, but also is considered to be a recreation which people can turn to, when bored. A great excuse for enjoying a beautiful day!

Badminton is one such outdoor sport and a fantastic activity as well as an exercise. Its equipment includes two rackets (if it’s a singles match) and a shuttlecock. It was standardized as a sport when the Badminton (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation of England was instituted in 1893.

There are many reason one should try badminton as a sport. First of all, badminton is a game which requires the player to have various bodily movements in order to play well. It can be so fast that you’d hardly see the shuttlecock, or very slow if you just want to relax with the game. Various kind of strokes are used which require the attention of your whole body to it, resulting in badminton to be a good exercise for you.

Badminton is a fairly easy to learn game as compared to the other games involving rackets. Many children play it for fun from quite a young age; this sport is a great way to socialize. This game also involves quite a degree of focus (especially on the shuttlecock), increasing your hand-eye synchronization and wrist movement. Badminton also develops better flexibility as well as strength in the player, especially when focused on the footwork and wrist movement, making the mobility of the player very fluid.

Such physical aspects of badminton are always visible no matter wherever you look up or read on this sport. Aside from these, the recreational aspects of badminton are huge. Since, there is not a court required always for this sort of game; you can go out for a picnic and play an informal game on the gr(–foul word(s) removed–) with kids.

Currently, the world number 1 champion of badminton is known to be Lee Chong Wei, who has recently ended the year of 2010 as one of the most unforgettable and outstanding ones, as he pocketed his 8th title on the professional tour and 9 on the whole for the current year, after winning the Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open Super Series 2010 concluding match on December 12, 2010 on a Sunday. It was also his 6th Super Series title for 2010.
