Duterte Assured: No Plans To Become A Dictator

Pres. Rodrigo Duterte said that while the campaign against illegal drugs has gone bloody, he has no plans to become a dictator.

President Rodrigo Duterte assured that he has no plans to become a dictator despite of the government’s bloody battle against illegal drugs.

Duterte said he is only doing his job and disposing of his responsibilities as the ‘father’ of the country when he tries to eliminate the illegal drug trade because he wants a better future for the next generation.

The president said, the Philippines would be a ‘failed country’ if he does not end the drug crisis.

President Rodrigo Duterte.

He assured that he will never follow the lead of former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos who put the Philippines under Martial Law.

“So welcome to your country, at tulungan ninyo ako. Wala akong balak na maging diktador. Abogado ako, ang nanay ko Yellow Friday leader sa Davao. Sabihin nila, mag-Marcos – far from it. I am just doing my duty, or else I will compromise, makokompromiso ang next generation natin. Kung sino iyan? Mga anak ninyo pati mga apo ninyo, then we will have a safe country. Sabi nila hindi mangyari, kanila iyon. Hayaan mo sila, may theory tayo eh. Kaniya theory hindi mangyari – okay. Eh, kung may mangyari? Eh, kung mangyari? Ano ka nga diyan sa Pilipinas?” said Pangulong Duterte.

(So welcome to your country and you will help me. I have no plans to become a dictator. I am a lawyer, my mother was a Yellow Friday leader in Davao. They say, I will be like Marcos – [but] far from it. I am just doing my duty, or else I will compromise our next generation. Who they are? Your children and also your grandchildren, then we will have a safe country. They say it will not happen, it’s theirs. Let them, we all have theories. His theory it will not realize – okay. But how about if it happens?)
