Davao International Airport – In a press conference, Regional Development Council (RDC)- Davao Region Chairman Rodolfo del Rosario said, “The Davao Airport is now in the process of procurement. It’s now a go as far as the airport is concerned,” at the National Economic Development Authority office on Monday, June 6, 2016.

Mr. del Rosario said in a State of the Region Address, “Both of these gateways are expected to significantly improve the Region’s physical connectivity and boost the Region as well as Mindanao’s economic development.”

He said that this project aims to provide additional facilities and other improvement designed to enhance the operations, passenger safety, security, and access, and passenger and cargo movements.

Pre-Qualified bidders are GMR-Megawide, Metro Pacific-JG Summit Consortium, Aboitiz Equity Ventures, San Miguel Corp. Philippine Skylanders, Inc., and Union Equity as identified by the Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

This airport is consist of a 3,000-meter precision runway that has the ability to accommodate wide-body aircraft, spacious parking space that can accommodate 688 cars, a Central Plant Building, Fire, Crash and Rescue Building and an Airfield Maintenance Building.

This project includes expansion of the passenger terminal building, from 65,000 to 125,000 sq.m; cargo terminal building expansion, from 13,000 to 27,000 sq.m.; and other key facilities.

In a post by Facebook page, Mindanao Economic Boom, they have revealed the possible outcome of the Davao International Airport, and it is really grandiose as it cost.

  1. Its a very good idea if Davao Airport will be the main airport of the Philippines as it is very dafe and not m7ch traffic compared to Manila. Davao needs more hotel accommodation though to cater for more tourists and international travellers. Hopefully this will go ahead.
