Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero Gives Message for Filipinos this Lent
CHIZ ESCUDERO – The Senate President warned the Filipinos about the “prophets of darkness” in his message for the Lenten season.
Amid the political turmoil in the Philippines following the unexpected arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte endorsed Senator Imee Marcos who leads the Senate investigation on the arrest of her father. The two (2) politicians can be seen wearing black in the said viral campaign ad.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that black is the current color of the Philippines. According to Sen. Imee Marcos, the country is not only hungry for food but for justice. The said campaign ad drew different reactions from the netizens although it is no longer a surprise that Duterte will endorse Marcos.
Previously, Sen. Imee Marcos claimed that the endorsement of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is not a reward. Recently, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero seemingly took swipe at the said campaign ad in his message for the Filipino people this Lent.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero told the Filipinos to not be carried away by the “prophets of darkness”. According to him, the Holy Week is the time for us to reflect and pray and to check on ourselves as good Christians and responsible citizens of the country.
“Huwag tayo magpadala sa mga propeta ng kadiliman na nagsasabing itim at hindi makulay at maliwanag ang bukas,” the Senate President said.

According to Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero, the Holy Week is the time to forgive and unite as brothers and sisters and as one nation. He stressed that conflict and fighting to push for a personal goal are not in line with the Lenten season.
“Kapwa muna bago ang sarili. Sa gitna ng mga pagsubok at anumang hamon, nawa’y ang Semana Santa ay maging panahon ng pagbabago at pagkabuklod-buklod,” Escudero said.
Based on the report, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero called on the Filipinos not to let anyone steal and take away the light and hope of the message of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Previously, Escudero and Marcos were in an exchange of strong remarks.
Sen. Imee Marcos called Escudero the “ambitious one” saying that she already forgot about campaigning. It came after the Senate President called on her not to use the Senate for her personal goals.
