Bagyong Neneng to Enter Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced on Wednesday, that a new typhoon (Bagyong Neneng) will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday, October 2, 2014. Although the tropical disturbance will affect the country it won’t make a landfall.

Based upon PAGASA’s latest weather bulletin, Bagyong Neneng whose international name is “Phanfone” was spotted at 1,620 kilometers East of extreme Northern Luzon as of 10:00 on Wednesday.

Bagyong Neneng was already packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 185 kph. It was moving west northwest at 20 kph.

Although Bagyong Neneng will not affect any areas in the country, PAGASA weather forecaster Gladys Saludes noted in an interview that the typhoon Phanfone might caused heavy rains in some areas of the Philippines.

Heavy rains across Visayas and Mindanao are expected in the next few days because of Habagat and there could be a possible wind convergence, this weather disturbance was caused by the winds from the West Philippine Sea.

The weather forecaster was quoted as saying “Hahatak ito ng habagat na makaka-apekto sa Mindanao at Visayas. Sa Luzon naman, wind convergence ang mangyayari [dahil sa mahahatak na hangin mula sa West Philippine Sea],” Saludes stated.

The newest weather disturbance is expected to enter PAR on Friday, it is also expected to leave PAR on Saturday, October 4, 2014. According to the latest warning released by international weather bureau, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center, the weather disturbance is forecast to move towards Southern portion of Japan.
