BATO DELA ROSA – Here are some details about former PNP Chief and now senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa including his personal background.

One of the personalities that gained public attention for his posts under the Duterte administration is Sen. Ronald dela Rosa. He is one of those who filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for president in the 2022 Election.

Born on January 21, 1962 at Barangay Bato, Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur, Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa is the son of Teodoro Diamanton dela Rosa Sr. and Anesia Cruspero Marapon. He was born to a poor family and his father worked as a tricycle driver. At a young age, he worked as a fish porter in the market and a bus conductor to help his parents.

The Senator enrolled at Mindanao State University (MSU) to take Bachelor of Science degree in public administration. In 1982, he joined the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) and finished as part of PMA Sinagtala class in 1986. Two years after, he earned his Master of Public Administration degree. In 2006, he earned his Ph.D in development administration from the University of Southern Philippines in Davao City.

Bato dela Rosa Political Career

In 1986, Dela Rosa became part of the Philippines’ police force as a lieutenant in Davao City. His entry to the field was followed by continuous promotions. In 2012, he served as the chief of police of Davao City. From October 2013 to December 2014, he was assigned to the Philippine National Police national headquarters in Camp Crame. He was part of the Intelligence Group. In 2016, he was chosen by Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to be the chief of PNP and to worked with the government in its anti-drugs campaign. His term ended in 2018 and it was followed by a senatorial bid the year after.

Dela Rosa secured the 5th place in the senatorial race. Recently, he filed his candidacy for president in the Election 2022 as the standard-bearer of the ruling party PDP-Laban Cusi wing.
