The office of the Vice President has issued a resignation effective immediately on Monday afternoon.
According to the statement of Joey Salgado, Head of OVP Media Affairs, Vice President Jejomar C. Binay tendered his irrevocable resignation from the cabinet.
Makati Rep. Abigail Binay hand carried her father’s resignation letter addressed to President Aquino.
Added in the statement of Salgado, Abigail Binay was escorted by Undersecretary Bejamin Martinez Jr., chief of staff of the Vice president.
Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa received the letter at the office of the Executive Secretary.
Binay was a former presidential adviser on overseas Filipino workers’ concerns.
No reasons are mentioned regarding Binay’s resignation who was squeezed in a corruption controversy.
