Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Occidental, February 25, 2023

EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.9 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, Saturday, February 25, 2023.

Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Davao Occidental. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.9.

The earthquake that struck Davao Occidental today, Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 01:28 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Balut Island in Sarangani.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 02.85°North, 126.11°East – 293 km South 15° East of Balut Island with a depth of focus of 048 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. Based on the records, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake and the nearby areas as well as instrumental intensities.
