DEATH TOLL OF EARTHQUAKE IN TURKEY, SYRIA – Here is the latest update about the number of deaths due to the 7.8 magnitude quake in Turkey and Syria.

Last week, Turkey and Syria were jolted by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that moved a lot of people out of their beds. The quake hit at around 4:00 in the morning so many people were still in their deep sleep. The natural incident caused massive destruction in several areas.

Buildings and households were brought down by the quake. Unfortunately, many people were buried in the debris of these tall structures and households that were damaged by the quake. Thousands of deaths were instantly recorded upon the start of the rescue operations.

The World Health initially feared that the death toll of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria will reach 20,000 – and it did. The United Nations feared that it might reached 50,000 if the quake victims will not be given an immediate assistance.

Recently, an update about the death toll of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria crossed the surface. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the number of deaths due to the quake has reached 41,000. U.N. is appealing for $1 billion for the relief of the victims.

The recent 7.8 magnitude quake is one of the deadliest earthquakes that have hit in the past 100 years. The rescue operations are ongoing for a few days now and the hopes of survivors is fading as each day passes.

Based on the report, the official and medics expressed that in Turkey, 38,044 people died due to the earthquake. In Syria, 3,688 deaths have been recorded bringing the total death count to 41,732.

The quake shook populated areas and most of the houses were not built to withstand powerful ground shaking. Most of the victims were unprepared as well as it hit very early in the morning when most people are still asleep.
