Controversial director Darryl Yap expresses reactions to his rival director Joel Lamangan who made a film countering his new film.
Darryl Yap’s new film “Martyr Or Murderer,” produced by Viva Films, instantly became a top trending topic on all social media platforms in the Philippines Wednesday night, following the publication of its official trailer. It was first shown during the film’s gala presscon before being released on Viva Entertainment’s social media pages.
When they saw the more than the two-minute trailer for “MoM,” the general public and netizens had varying views. Part 2 of the controversial and blockbuster film “Maid in Malacaang.”
The film’s trailer, which still stars Cristine Reyes as Imee Marcos, Ruffa Gutierrez as former First Lady Imelda Marcos, Diego Loyzaga as young Bongbong Marcos, and Cesar Montano as former President Ferdinand Marcos, startled and cheered audiences.
Meanwhile, Darryl Yap was asked at the “MoM” press conference what he could say that “Oras de Peligro,” Joel Lamangan’s film starring Cherry Pie Picache and Allen Dizon, could compete with his work. Director Joel stated in an interview that the story of his film is all about the truth of what happened during the EDSA People Power Revolution.
He stated that this is his response to “Maid in Malacaang,” which described the Marcoses’ final three days in Malacaang in February 1986. Darryl, the director, responded to the inquiry by saying that he does not talk to those who do not have more than one million followers.
“I was advised by my lawyers not to talk about people with less than one million followers. I rather not comment. Kapag po one million followers, I’ll comment na,” he said.
