Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Occidental, January 20, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.6 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, Friday, January 20, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental yesterday, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a different part of Davao Occidental. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.6.
The earthquake that struck Davao Occidental today, January 20, 2023, at 02:51 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Balut Island.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 02.82°North, 126.60°East – 315 km South 25° East of Balut Island with a depth of focus of 015 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. Based on the record released, no intensity as well as instrumental intensity were recorded of the said quake. According to the agency, this quake is an aftershock of January 18 quake event in Davao Occidental.
