Superstar Nora Aunor starred the 1995 film The Flor Contemplacion Story which rolled out the story of a Filipina domestic helper who was executed in Singapore.
Now the award-winning actress is in one with Filipinos hoping for the freedom of the convicted Mary Jane Veloso who was just reprieved from the death row in Indonesia due to alleged drug trafficking.
Aunor during the press conference for her film “Taklub”, which was chosen as entry to the Un Certain Regard section of the 68th Cannes International Film Festival, said that she is willing to play the role of Veloso if the story will be laid to film and if the role will be offered to her.
The also actress said she support the migrants push for Veloso. She also added, “Kung hangga’t maaari dapat kasi katulong din natin… hindi lang tayong mga Pilipino, mga kababayan natin ang nagtutulung-tulong.”
Referring to present administration, the actress aired her side on how the government addresses cases like of Veloso.
“Ang pinakaimportante kasi diyan ay kung sino ang nasa itaas, ang nasa gobyerno natin, kung sino yung dapat magsalita na ‘Tulungan natin iyan o tulungan natin dito… Dapat maglagay ng tao para asikasuhin kung ano ang dapat asikasuhin.”, she said.
Finally pointing into administration’s last minute call in seek of Veloso’s clemency, the actress nailed, “Tumawag? Bakit last minute lang?”
