Lovi Poe is doing a remake of her father’s movie
Kapamilya actress Lovi Poe said that she does not want to totally copy how Diamond Star Maricel Soriano did the role of Maria in Batang Quiapo.
Lovi is the leading lady of actor Coco Martin in the teleserye adaptation of Fernando Poe Jr.’s movie that was released in 1986. Previously, Coco did FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano which aired for seven years.
Late last year, it was announced that after her K-drama adaptation Flower of Evil, Lovi’s second project as a Kapamilya is the one that her father did years ago. The actress is now being tagged as “Action Queen” and being called LPJ, derived from her father’s initial because of how she fearlessly did her action scenes in her first Kapamilya series.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Abante, Lovi Poe shared that her portrayal of the leading lady role in Batang Quiapo will not completely reflect what Maricel Soriano did in the original movie.
“Iniba kasi nila yung character ko pero syempre lalagyan namin ng touch of the original,” the actress said. She added that she does not intend to copy Maricel’s portrayal but viewers will definitely see in the series the unforgettable scenes in the movie.
The upcoming Kapamilya series also features Charo Santos Concio, Christopher de Leon, Cherry Pie Picache, Irma Adlawan, and many more.
Meanwhile, based on a previous article, Coco, along with other cast members of the series joined this year’s Translacion on January 9, which is a tradition every year in Quiapo. During the said event, they also shot some scenes for the Batang Quiapo series.
“Gumising kami ng maaga para talaga ma-cover namin at masaksihan namin ang tunay na nangyayari sa pista ng Quiapo,” the Kapamilya actor said.
