President Marcos Declares December 26 As A Special Non-Working Day

PRESIDENT MARCOS – Through Proclamation No. 115, President Bongbong Marcos declares December 26 as a Special Non-Working Day.

Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. issues Proclamation No. 115 declaring Dec. 26, 2022, the day after Christmas, as a special non-working day throughout the country. This is to give the people “the full opportunity to celebrate the holiday with their families and loved ones”.

In the document released, the declaration also seeks longer time for the people to spend with their family. It says, “A longer weekend will encourage families to get together and strengthen their relationship towards a more productive environment, and will promote tourism.”

Christmas Day this year, which is a regular holiday, falls on a Sunday.

The president also ordered the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to release the appropriate circular to implement the proclamation for the private sector.

January 1, 2023, is a regular holiday under Proclamation 90 and in the same proclamation, January 2, 2023, is declared an additional special non-working day, this day falls on a Monday. The declaration is made “in consideration of the Filipino tradition of visiting relatives and spending time with their families for this occasion.”
