Juancho Triviño talked about his role in ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’
Kapuso actor Juancho Triviño clarified that his Padre Salvi character in the primetime series Maria Clara at Ibarra is not actually “panot.”
The said Kapuso series has been receiving positive feedback from viewers. Netizens have been talking about the cast and the story of this historical portal romantic teleserye that features the tandem of Dennis Trillo and Julie Ann San Jose as Crisostomo Ibarra and Maria Clara.
Aside from the tandem, many viewers are also loving the character of Maria Clara “Klay” Infante portrayed by Barbie Forteza. If netizens are loving the lead stars, they are hating the antagonist, Padre Salvi.
Previously, Juancho Triviño reacted to the “gigil” comment that he received from a netizen. He said that he feels honored that his performance as the antagonist in the series is being noticed by many people.
In a recent interview, based on the article in GMA Entertainment, Juancho said that it is one of the most enjoyable roles that he did. “Sa pagkakasulat pa lang nakakainis na ‘yung character ni Padre Salvi so habang ginawa ko, ang dami kong naiiisip na mga maliliit at malalaking bagay na lalong magdadagdag sa kanya ng color,” the actor said.
He also shared the funny reactions that he received for portraying Padre Salvi. Juancho said that there were those comments saying that he has an island on his head and they would call him “Padre Sunny side up.”
“Hindi naman personal ‘yung mga atake sa akin, pero nagpapadala ng ganitong litrato na may hawak na baril ‘tapos sabi niya ‘Every time Padre Salvi shows up in the scene,’” the Kapuso star added.
He is happy that the viewers are engaged with their series. Juancho said that it is a goal of an actor to receive this kind of reaction from the viewers. Then, the actor clarified that Padre Salvi is not bald.
“Ginagawa siya sa mga bagong kura. Its called the tonsure, so hindi siya panot. Sadya siya noong unang panahon na kinakalbo talaga ‘yung top,” Juancho Triviño explained. The tonsure is being done to priests in order to show their humility.
Because of his Padre Salvi role, the actor said that he appreciates the novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo by Jose Rizal.
