To give the Office of the Ombudsman peace after the surprising result of the submitted impeachment case filed against Ombudsman Merceditas Guiterrez, the later signed her resignation and personally hand it to President Aquino.

The impeachment case went to the House of Representative after the allegation that Guiterrez had been protecting former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo together with her constituents from being sued and from being questioned with regards to the issues in their times.

Guiterrez resignation as stipulated in her resignation letter will take effect on May 6, a week before the Congress will be back to session and that the impeachment proceeding is also to take place.

During the voting procedure with regards to the impeachment case filed against Guiterrez, the result is very overwhelming, 212-46 which in favor to the complaint.

Upon filing the resignation letter, President Aquino immediately accepted the Ombudsman decision and in response, Guiterrez her gratitude to the President for the opportunity and for accepting her decision.

Moreover, Guiterrez staff and the personnel in the Ombudsman were expected to be informed before the palace will give its official statement.

This latest development in the government is an evidence that the new administration is really determined to know the truth and to give justice to the anomalies happening during the previous leadership.
